OVERVIEW

The Oak Tree Circle is a raised 4 metres walkway that wraps around a 200 year old oak tree and is the hub of the new Children’s Garden at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Kew. It is part of the theme ‘What Do Plants Need to Grow’ and was designed in collaboration between Kew Gardens, Ground Control, and Duncan & Grove.

The walkway is made from larch and was built in bays at our workshop in West Sussex. It is elevated 4 metres off the ground using natural robinia poles on steel shoes that are in turn secured to screw piles as the foundations are in the RPA of the tree.
